The New Christy Minstrels:
Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas!

Most people believe that this is Gene's first LP with the New Christy Minstrels. You can see him on the sleigh in the photo, dead center wearing the tan sweater. However, Gene did NOT participate in this album. The recordings were made in July 1963 and Gene joined the group in mid-August. His first recordings with the group were the German version of "Green, Green" ("Grun Grun Ist Tennessee"). He DID participate on the hit single "Saturday Night" and the album "Land of Giants". He MIGHT have recorded on the "Today" album, but it was an unusual line of players and not all of the Minstrels were there, e.g. Larry Ramos.

The Byrds:
Mr. Tambourine Man - Signed by Gene Clark!

Mr. Tambourine Man - Signed by Gene Clark!

This is the classic Byrds-album from 1965
Mine is the original release, signed by Gene Clark!

With The Gosdin Brothers

With The Gosdin Brothers

Gene's first solo album. The picture shows the original release from 1967. You can read more about this album in my CD-section.

Dillard & Clark:
The Fantastic Expedition of Dillard & Clark

The Fantastic Expedition of Dillard & Clark

Gene teamed up with banjo genious Doug Dillard in the late 60s. The result was exactly what one would expect; A mix of country, rock, gospel and bluegrass that is totally outstanding.

The Byrds:
Preflyte - Signed by Gene Clark!

Preflyte - Signed by Gene Clark!

Another album I have that is signed by Gene Clark. Actually I have never played this one. It's supposed to contain early Byrds demoes.

Dillard & Clark:
Through the Morning Through the Night

Through the Morning Through the Night

Gene and Doug were very productive, while it lasted. However, they released only 2 albums and a few singles. This one is the same style as "The Fantastic Expedition" above.

Original Soundtrack:
The American Dreamer

The American Dreamer

The picture is not the best since the shrink-rapping is still on. My album has never been opened. I have the CD too (see my CD-section), so I don't need to open this one.
From the movie "The American Dreamer".
You can read more about this album in my CD-section.

The Eagles:
The Eagles

The Eagles

I put this in here only because Gene wrote "Train Leaves Here This Morning" which is included on this album. He wrote it together with his good friend Bernie Leadon who has been a member of The Eagles for many years. Gene and Bernie played together in many different bands.

The Byrds:
The Byrds

The Byrds - The Byrds

The boys' attempt on a reunion from 1973. Original line-up. A very good attempt but unfortunately it was not a big success.

Roadmaster

Roadmaster

This album was originally only released in The Netherlands in 1973. Later it was rereleased in the US in 1986, with a different cover. Finally it was released on CD in the late 80s.

No Other

No Other

Genes' classic album from 1974. You can read some more about this one in my CD-section.

Early L.A. Sessions

Early L.A. Sessions

This is basically "With the Gosdin Brothers" in a new rapping. Remixed and with new vocals by Gene. Released in 1974.

Dillard & Clark:
Kansas City Southern

Kansas City Southern

Another album originally released only in The Netherlands. For some reason Gene made it pretty big there. This album was released in 1975. This album has never been re-released on any media.

Gene Clark & Doug Dillard:
G&D

G&D

Yet another exclusive Netherlands-release. There is no date printed on the cover or vinyl, so I don't know when this album was released. As with all these exclusive Netherlands-albums, all the writing is in Dutch. This album has never been re-leased later on any media.

Original Soundtrack:
The Farmer

The Farmer

Another soundtrack with songs by Gene Clark. Actually the same songs that can be found on "The American Dreamer" soundtrack, but totally different versions. The versions on this album can not be found anywhere else.

Two Sides to Every Story

Two Sides to Every Story

One of my favourite albums. As in total opposite to what The Rolling Stone wrote in their review: "Is this the dullest album ever made?", "Lugubrious to the point of laughableness". Well, either you like this kind of music or you don't. I do, and Paul Nelson don't.

Byrds on the Wyng

Byrds on the Wyng

This is probably a bootleg. I have no info about this record. It contains early Byrds demos. The cover says "Byrds on the Wyng". Tha vinyl label says "Post Beefeaters on the Wyng".

McGuinn Clark & Hillman:
McGuinn Clark & Hillman

McGuinn Clark & Hillman

This is the first album these 3 guys did together after The Byrds.

McGuinn & Hillman Featuring Gene Clark:
City

City

Another album with these 3 Byrds. This time with Gene Clark a little more in the background.

Firbyrd

Firebyrd

Gene's last solo album. Very different and much inspired by the 80s music. But still genuine Gene Clark sound. The cover pictured is the original vinyl release. It's different from the CD cover I have.

Gene Clark & Carla Olson:
So Rebellious a Lover

So Rebellious a Lover

It's a classic for Gene Clark fans. Gene worked a lot with Carla's band The Textones. They were very good friends but only got time to release this album and one live album. Gene died before they got to finish their next album, which they were working on.

The Textones:
Back in Time

Back in Time

The Textones is Carla Olson's band. This album consists of previously unreleased material, recorded between 1979 and 1988. Gene helps his good friend by singing and playing guitar on the beautiful song "Jokers Are Wild" together with Pat Robinson. Gene also produced this song. It was recorded in 1985.
